Description
American Gold Eagle coins debuted from the US Mint in 1986. That first year of issue included just a 1 oz Proof Gold Eagle, with the other three fractional-weights introduced over the following two years. First came the oz Gold Eagle in 1987, followed by the and 1/10 oz Proof Gold Eagles in 1988.
All 4-Coin Proof American Gold Eagle Coin Sets are struck by the United States Mint facility at the West Point Mint. Each coins obverse face has a W mint mark hiding in the rays of sun emanating from behind Liberty.
