Please note: Coins can be sold to Cash For Any Coins in either PCGS or NGC certified coins from 1840-1907.
The evolution of the US Mints offering of gold coins has come a long way since the first coins rolled off the production line in the late 18th century. While the $2.5 Liberty Head Quarter Eagle gold coin was not first minted until 1840, it gives investors and collectors a glimpse into just how far the US Mint has come. These coins are guaranteed to be Mint State 62 and are graded by either the NGC or PGCS. They will be sold to Cash For Any Coins in their certified slabs which both protect the coin and display its grade and year of minting.
If you are at all familiar with modern-day US coins, you will quickly recognize that the Liberty Head Quarter Eagles design is the inspiration for many coins produced nowadays. The coin is made up of 90% pure gold and boasts .12094 troy ounces of the yellow metal. The obverse side of the Quarter Eagle depicts Ben Wests rendering of Lady Liberty facing leftward. Lady Liberty is wearing a coronet with the inscription Liberty on it. Also featured on the obverse side of the coin is a marking indicating the year in which the coin was minted. The coins reverse depicts an American eagle who is clutching arrows and an olive branch in its talons and wearing a protective shield across its chest. The words United States of America round the outer edges of the reverse, as does the $2.5 face value.
Few other coins from this era boast the type of intricacy found on the Liberty Head, part of the reason why it is so attractive to collectors. What’s more, the coins high purity combined with its general rarity make it a great investment vehicle as well.
