It follows designs featuring an arctic fox, a polar bear, and a polar bear with a cub. Falcons are able to fly at high speeds because of their wing shape, and unlike the eagle and hawk, will kill their prey with their beaks instead of claws. The coins have the same diameter as standard issue Royal Canadian Mint silver coins, but they are 50 percent thicker to accommodate the extra metal content.
